May.
It usually begins with finals season (gross), but it is still the light at the end of the tunnel for the spring semester. This finals week, however was quite easy academically, but emotionally, it sucked. I had to say farewell to some of my best friends who graduated, and while I am happy for them and cannot wait to see what adventures they embark on, it is a bittersweet goodbye!
All of the excitement at the end of the semester distracted me from one scary thought: I am now a senior in college. What? How did that happen? I always thought people in college were so “big” and mature, but boy was I wrong. Here I am at 21-years-old and still not exactly sure what I want my future career to be. It still seems like last week I was learning how to drive, or driving to the city everyday to get to school. But alas, those first three years of college flew bye without me even getting a chance to stop and appreciate it all. So, my goal for this coming year is to take a step back, and really appreciate the time that I have left here before I have to get a full-time job and not have a summer anymore. Yikes.
In order to take advantage of this, I will be spending my last summer in Los Angeles. I had pictured sunshine and going to the beach everyday, but so far that is not what May has brought. It has been so gloomy and has made me put that dream on pause for the time being. Apparently, the weather stayed like this until mid-to the end of June last year, and will probably be the same this year as well. So, for all of you who think it’s “always warm” and “sunny and 75” in LA, come visit in May, there is no sunshine here!
In other news, I started my third internship! I am working for ImForza, an internet marketing company as a marketing intern. It’s only my second week, but I have already learned so much valuable knowledge that I can take with me onward. It has been very different than my past two internships at Public Relations Firms, so I am curious as to what else I will learn! I am excited to see what the rest of the summer brings me.
On top of that, many of my friends have also decided to stay in Los Angeles for their final summer. This is extremely exciting because I will get to spend my time with them, instead of saying farewell to them as well until the end of summer.
I can’t wait to see what adventures and explorations summer takes us on!
